Abstract

The nuclear medicine holds several diagnostic procedures for using specific radionuclides in studies of physiology of the body systems, being the technetium (99mTc) is the more frequently used. This radionuclide is produced per elution from a generator containing molybdenum (99Mo). The monitoring of Radionuclide impurities of radiopharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine exams is essential because the impurities can damage the image diagnosis. The presence of 99Mo in radiopharmaceuticals derived from 99mTc is regarded as impurity because it results in extra dose of radiation in patients without clinical benefit. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the content of 99Mo in elution performed in 99Mo/99mTc generator in a nuclear medicine clinic of Sergipe.
