Conflict of Interest Policy

This document establishes the guidelines for the identification and management of conflicts of interest in the submission and review process of articles for the Scientia Plena journal.

What is a conflict of interest?

A conflict of interest occurs when an individual involved in the editorial process (author, editor, or reviewer) has personal or financial ties that could, either actually or potentially, influence their judgments or decisions regarding a manuscript.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

All individuals involved in the editorial process must declare, clearly and completely, any situation that could constitute a conflict of interest.

Types of conflicts of interest:

  • Financial ties: Employment, consulting, participation in boards, fees, patents, receipt of funding from companies or institutions, among others.
  • Personal ties: Friendships, kinship, collaborations on previous projects, mentorship or academic guidance.

Mitigation measures:

  • Avoidance: The journal will seek to avoid the participation of editors and reviewers in review processes where there is a conflict of interest.
  • Disclosure: The transparent disclosure of conflicts of interest allows readers to assess the independence of published works.
  • Management: In specific cases, the journal may adopt additional measures to mitigate the impact of potential conflicts of interest, such as the inclusion of an ad hoc reviewer or review by an associate editor.

Responsibilities:

  • Authors: Are responsible for identifying and declaring all relevant conflicts of interest.
  • Editors: Must ensure the impartiality of the editorial process and take the necessary measures to avoid or mitigate conflicts of interest.
  • Reviewers: Must inform the editor of any conflict of interest that could compromise the impartiality of their review.

Objective:

The objective of this conflict of interest policy is to guarantee the scientific integrity of the Scientia Plena journal and to strengthen readers' confidence in the published works.

Note:

This conflict of interest policy is subject to periodic review.
