Morphology and characterization of germination depending on the position of the seeds in the fruit of thrush

The objective was study aspects of the germination and fruits, seeds and seedlings morphology of sabia. For the study fruit characteristics were observed: color, size, texture and consistency of the pericarp, dehiscence, and number of seeds per fruit. The observed aspects for the seeds were: color, dimensions, weight of 1000 seeds, texture and tegument consistency; shape, edge and hilum and micropyle position; embryo (shape, position and type); and endosperm. The characteristics for the seedlings were: root, stem, hypocotyl, cotyledons, epicotyls and foliage leaves. To characterize the germination was set up germination tests to assess the % germination and germination rate (IVG), considering the seed position in the fruit. The sabia fruits presented in the vegetable articles form, indehiscent, formed by a craspedium sequence. The seeds vary oblong the orbicular, hard and smooth glossy surface with U-shaped pleurogram. The seedling complete their formation at 21 days of germination, and this epigeous with 88.1% germination and IVG of 9.2. The seed position in the fruit does not interfere of the % germination, IVG and dry weight of seedlings.Downloads
