Abstract

Scientific dissemination is an extremely important tool for scientific literacy, resulting in several benefits for citizenship, such as: promotion of scientific knowledge in pedagogical character; popular mobilization regarding public policies, debates, formation of public opinion, among others. Aligned with the approach Science, Technology, Society and Environment, the reading of scientific dissemination texts has proven to be a good alternative to be applied in the classroom in physics education. In view of this importance, this work aims to describe a brief overview, in a local context, on the opinion of physics teachers regarding the use of popularization of science texts in high school classroom. Through the analysis of a semi-structured interview conducted with nine physics teachers from the public education system of Sergipe, enrolled in the Professional Master's Degree course in Physics Teaching at the Federal University of Sergipe, we present an overview of the use of these texts by these teachers and what they think about such use. Although the teachers recognize the importance of the texts, that have potential to motivate interest in science, we identified that such use is not common in their classes. The main justification given by teachers was the lack of time for this in their classes.
