Comparison of physical properties of particleboard Pinus from industry and laboratory

Abstract

The pine wood plays an important role in providing raw material for forest-based industries such as panel production clusters. Currently, the cluster is one of the main elements for the furniture sector in Brazil. The study aims to compare the physical properties of density, water absorption and thickness swelling after 2 and 24 hours of immersion in water clusters of panels made from pine waste from industrial and laboratory. From the results it was observed that Pinus Laboratory presented an average density of 0.62 g/cm3 (CV = 7.67%), water absorption to 2 hours of 21.26% (CV = 35.29%) and after 24 hours was
66.46% (CV = 12.97%). For the swelling in thickness in two hours of immersion in water showed that the average was 7.74% (CV = 32.83) and after 24 hours was 29.29% (CV = 8.52%). With respect to Pinus Industrial average density was 0.62 g/cm3% (CV = 2.25%), water absorption of 2 hours 14.48% (CV = 14.60%) and after 24 hours average was 49.55% (CV = 6.95%). For the swelling in thickness in two
hours of immersion in water, Pinus Industrial has averaged 3.99% (CV = 17.26%) and after 24 hours 14.51% (CV = 6.94%).
