Abstract

In this work, were developed materials of the type Ni2O3/NaZSM-5 and evaluated in the adsorption of Congo red dye. Zeolite NaZSM-5 was obtained from commercial zeolite NH4ZSM-5 through ion exchange and nickel(III) oxide was incorporated into NaZSM-5, in different proportion, by mechanosynthesis. The adsorbents were characterized using N2 adsorption and desorption, X ray diffraction (XRD), scanning eléctron microscopy (SEM) and determined the pH of the point of zero charge (PZC). The results of congo red by adsorption in the liquid phase showed that the adsorbents containing nickel(III) oxide (10% Ni2O3/NaZSM-5 e 20% Ni2O3/NaZSM-5) showed adsorption efficiency 5 and 9% higher than NaZSM-5. Kinetic studies showed that the pseudo second order model exhibited the best fit with experimental data with R2 valeus closer to unity. The study of reuse of adsorbents was evaluated and presented promising results.
