During the COVID-19 pandemic, after a period of perplexity and interruption of educational activities, there was a need to return to teaching activities and propose ways of teaching while maintaining social isolation and strategies to face the new Coronavirus. Due to the impossibility of teaching in person, several schools joined what became known as Emergency Remote Teaching (ERE). But, the consequences of the pandemic scenario directly affected the teaching and learning process in the Marajo region. Therefore, the present work aims to describe the educational panorama of Science and Biology teaching in the municipalities of Soure and Salvaterra. The data obtained and presented here were collected through a Google form (Google Forms), which was sent to the participants through a link via an instant messaging application (WhatsApp). Teachers' reports show an increase in work demand, a high number of school dropouts, a low rate of teacher training focused on teaching in a pandemic period, and the lack or deficient access to the internet for most students, consequently, their low participation in online meetings. The evaluation itself was compromised since the lack of contact with the teacher obstructs its diagnostic and continuous character. Finally, it is worth mentioning the explicit need for more training that can help this faculty in using/developing new methodologies capable of engaging them in this new educational scenario. It is considered essential to partner with higher education institutions and policies aimed at training these professionals for active and effective performance in different contexts.
