This paper presents the views of five chemistry teachers of state schools of the municipalities of Pedrinhas, Estancia, Itabaiana and Aracaju / SE on the approach to environmental education in their classes. Environmental education aims to educate the citizen to solve and prevent problems that exist in the environment. It is known that the environmental problem is embedded in society and many see chemistry as the main factor for the destruction of the planet. In seeking to demystify this situation, we sought to analyze the importance, contribution and difficulties that chemistry teachers have to work with environmental issues along with the chemical concepts and their initial training helped them. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews in 2013.
