We examined the opinions of three ex-collegers of PIBID/CHEMISTRY/UFS/São Cristóvão on the production and use of educational material, as well as, contributions to the initial formation of a chemistry professor and the difficulties encountered in its preparation. The data were collected through individual and semi-structured interviews in December 2014. We realize that the ex-collegers produced and applied teaching materials in the form of thematic workshop. Among the main contributions to initial training, there is the possibility of contextualization approach in teaching Chemistry; the importance of using different methodologies and the awakening of interest to students of Basic Education for knowledge. The main difficulties were related to choice of themes that allow the contextualization, the fullness of time for the implementation of the thematic workshop and a concern to teach something to arouse the motivation for learning.
