Abstract

Zoological collections provide complimentary role in the formal teaching of Science methods, by offering students the opportunity to assimilate theoretical subjects in a more effective and significant way. This work aimed to provide the students of a public school in Aracaju/SE with a teaching/learning opportunity in Zoology through visits to the UFS’s Invertebrates Collection and verifying if learning of information was accomplished. A questionnaire was applied to 29 of the 100 students who participated in the visit. Their answers indicate that off-school activities are motivating to the study itself but not enough and that scientific terms related to zoology and ecology should be better emphasized both in school and in alternative spaces.
