Abstract

The present study it had as objective the cataloging of the vegetal species indicated by the healers in the combat to the inflammatory diseases, commercialized in free fair, public market and store of Arapiraca-AL. As instruments were applied questionnaires to obtain more detailed information on the plants for them indicated, as, for example, the species more vended, forms of preparation and origin of the knowledge that the healers withhold on the use of the medicinal plants. Have been identified eighteen species of plants designated as anti-inflammatory and commercialized in the municipality of Arapiraca, of which twelve had presented given in literature that they concise with the indication made for the healers, corresponding 66.67% of the total of catalogued plants. Of this form, if it makes necessary the rescue of the popular information on the use of the plants with medicinal ends, because the renovation of generations can make with that the loss of such information occurs. However, excessively, that is, six types of plants had presented absence of data through the literary analysis, that correspond 33.33% of the total, what it evidences the need for the investigations on the confirmation or not of the anti-inflammatory properties pointed by herbs merchants of the city. Therefore, the majority of the plants indicated for the healers really possess anti-inflammatory action, however, some species does not have its proven effectiveness scientifically, what it consists of a risk in potential for health of the local population.
