Keywords:
Eco-history, environmental degradation, European colonizationAbstract
The text seeks to reflect on the importance of a region environmental history to understand their current environmental situation. An example was a brief characterization of the European settlement impacts on the environment in the region of Rio Grande do Sul Valleys. In nowadays is required the combination of environmental and social perspectives, which in the past were dealt in an isolated way. The researches on environmental history, beyond its intrinsic value, are used to understand this as a reflection of past attitudes and also to avoid that the same mistakes are committed again.Downloads
