Urban Brazilian beaches have been suffering an accelerated process of erosion. In light of this, our research aimed to estimate the variation rate in the sand strip on a stretch of beach in the municipality of Barra dos Coqueiros-SE between the years 1988 through 2019. The variation in the coastline was analyzed by multitemporal mapping in satellite orbital images from the Landsat series, with a spatial resolution of 30 meters. The rates of change were obtained by two different methods: rate by linear regression and rate by termination point. The variation of the coastline presented rate values between -7.9 and 20.43 m.year-1 and the accretion behavior predominated over time. The coastline variation envelope presented minimum values of 17.27 m, on the left bank of the Sergipe River and along the beaches, after the limit of Atalaia Nova beach. The highest values occurred in transects located at Praia da Atalaia Nova, in Barra dos Coqueiros (633.55 m). We can conclude that the Landsat series images were able to model the variation of the coastline and that there is a predominant tendency of accretion for the analyzed time interval. These results not only help us understand the dynamics of the coastal area in the medium to long term but also provide valuable insights to support land occupation in regions with a greater degree of variability.
