Abstract

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of different types of substrates and containers on seedling quality of Poincianella pyramidalis (Tul.) L. P. Queiroz. The experiment was conducted in a glasshouse at the Department of Forest Science, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. We tested four types of substrates: soil, coconut powder, bagacilho cane and cattle manure and two types of containers: plastic tube with a volume capacity of 0.3 dm ³ and polyethylene bag with 1.3 dm ³. The statistical design was a completely randomized design with a factorial 2 x 12, with six replicates per treatment and three plants per replication. It can be concluded that the seedlings grown in plastic pots with soil + manure and / or soil + bagacilho showed statistically identical results to the polyethylene bag, but the cartridge requires less space and lower volume of substrate, being suitable for the production of seedlings catingueira.
