Thermoluminescent kinetic parameters of 215°C peak of lilac spodumene

The use of thermoluminescence (TL) in radiation dosimetry or geological dating requires knowledge of the TL properties of the material. Besides the necessary care during the experiments, it is vitally important knowledge of the curve shape of the emission and the answer depending on dose, that can be presented as a theoretical model able to predict results and also provide explanations in terms of the material internal structure and provides the lifetime of the same. This lifetime is indirectly calculated using the kinetics activation energy (E), the frequency factor (s) and kinetic order (b). With this aim, the kinetic parameters of the 215°C TL peak from a lilac spodumene sample were evaluated using the peak shape method, as well as the curve fitting. The b value found indicates that this TL peak has a first order kinetic and the values of E and s derived from both methods under study showed a lifetime of about 2 months when the material is subjected to a environment temperature of 15°C.Downloads
