Preparation and magnetic characterization of Zn1-xMnxCr2O4 (x = 0, 0.1) compounds

In this work, we present the synthesis of the geometrical frustrated Zn1-xMnxCr2O4 (x = 0, 0.10) system. X-ray powder diffraction shows that samples are single phase. Their magnetic properties were determinate by magnetization and susceptibility measurements as a function of temperature. That system presents antiferromagnetic frustrated behavior with Néel temperature (TN) of 12 K and spin-glass(TVS) at 10 K 5 tp x = 0 and x = 0.1, respectively. The disordered substitution between zinc and manganese ions in the tetrahedral sublattice, and competition between different kinds of exchange interactions are responsible for the spin-glass state.Downloads
