This study aims to examine the teaching of environmental education from the perception of teachers of 15 schools in the city of Aracaju, Sergipe. In the formal education teachers are directly responsible for the choice of issues to be addressed, and how such approaches are made. Given that the assessments were performed by means of ideas out of each teacher interviewed. Frequently the treatment of environmental issues is still delegated to the teachers of Sciences we decided to develop the research based on the ideas of this group of professionals. In general it was observed that the teachers interviewed have a concern to discuss environmental issues in the classroom, what shows that they understand the importance of these issues for the training of critical and participatory citizens. The fact that the vast majority do not understand clearly the meaning of EA sets a distortion in the your implementation, ending thus compromising the quality of this process that is perceived in a fragmented way, with a simplified view of the process and the educational opportunities within the formal spaces. It would be an extremely important public policy goal to stimulate education training for teachers in subjects related to environmental education.Downloads
