Tha monetary contradiction in the island of Puerto Rico under Spanish colonialism in the nineteenth century

In this essay the monetary situation lived in the island of Puerto Rico under Spanish colonialism in the nineteenth century is analyzed, and how the lack of regulation of its own currency and coinage were some of the reasons for the economic deterioration that prevented the formation of an internal market the modernization of production relations, the strengthening of the local landlord class and the constant flight of capitals through the smuggling of Mexican silver.
