Abstract

Essential oils are one of the most important groups of raw materials for various industries, especially the perfumery, food and pharmaceutical industries. Otacanthus azureus is an aromatic shrub, popularly known as herb-copal is a little studied species of great potential for obtaining oils, which can be used in the cosmetics industry, pharmacological and perfumery. In this context aimed to evaluate the effect of two brightness levels and fertilization for dry-matter accumulation and oil yield of plants Otacanthus azureus. The experiment was arranged in randomized 2x2x3 factorial, with two levels of light (50% and 100%) with two nitrogen levels (0 and 100 kg / ha). Treatment of irradiance herb-copal showed the highest growth response to 100% light, no effect of nitrogen fertilization on yield of oil.
