Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the socio-demographic profile and lifestyle of patients admitted to the medical clinic at the Regional Hospital of Lagarto, in the town of Lagarto, Sergipe, in view of identification of limiting factors to nursing care. This research was quantitative, descriptive and exploratory nature, sampling was random and the instrument for data collection was a form composed of objective and subjective questions. The results were statistically analyzed and showed that all patients had hypertension or diabetes, aged between 35 and 86 years, with a mean age of 61.1, predominantly female (52.5%), low income (72.5%), married (60%), low education (62.5%), smoking (5%), alcoholism (12.5%), sedentary (80%), 45% had heart disease as the leading comorbidity, 72.5% showed poor knowledge about the internment and the meaning of their disease, 45% reported hospitalization for more than three times, 80% of family caregivers are women. It is considered that these features point to a vulnerable person and can influence on your health-disease process and treatment, requiring an organized and targeted assistance to prevent readmissions, interfering in the planning of nursing care.
