Evaluation of factors related to the presence of insects in timber located in Campina Grande - PB.

Abstract

Several insects, including termites, beetles and bumble living wood, can cause damage to their issues and physical and chemical characteristics that may render them unfit for marketing. This research was performed in order to gather information related to the presence of insects in wood lumber industries of Campina Grande, Paraíba. To that end, we conducted a survey with questionnaire in timber large and small trade in Campina Grande-PB. It was observed that the owners of timber were, in general, big time experience in the area, but know only one or two of wood insects (termites and wood-saw). Most who reported having had problems with insects, especially termites, said they had not had this injury and that wood is usually sold for energy use or manufacture of upholstered furniture.
