The cervix cancer is the second most prevalent in women in Brazil, but the precursor lesions of this type of cancer can be diagnosed early through cytopathological examination, which examined cytological and microbiological aspects of the material cervicovaginal. This test also allows the recognition of causal agents of vaginitis. The aim of this study is to characterize the microbiological profile and cytological changes associated in cervical-vaginal materials collected on Office of Integral Health Care for Women of University Tiradentes (CAISM / UNIT) in the period from 2009 to 2011. This was an exploratory study with retrospective quantitative approach, analyzing the reports of cervical screening with respect to patient age, suitability of the biological material, types of epithelia, benign reactive or reparative changes and microbiota. We analyzed 85 reports of women aged 17 to 55 years (mean = 31.4), and 100% of the biological samples were satisfactory. Regarding the profile of the material cytological cervicovaginal, most showed inflammation, while approximately 10% were normal. The atypical squamous cells were seen in only 1% of the samples. The atypical squamous cells were seen in only 1% of the samples. In the reports analyzed, 12% had Candida sp, 15% supracytoplasmatics bacilli (Gardnerella / Mobilluncus), 23% and 50% Lactobacilli Cocos / Bacilli. Age correlated negatively with the presence of Lactobacillus, Candida sp and association with Candida sp / Cocos. We conclude, therefore, that the collection procedure performed in CAISM / UNIT may contribute to the screening for cervical cancer and the diagnostic specificity of STD / vaginitis.Downloads
