Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of the isolated fungus Pleurotus ostreatus in control of root-knot nematode in lettuce. Isolates of P. ostreatus were used DF39, EF58, EF60 and PS5. The fungal inoculants were produced in substrate of coconut fiber autoclaved. The planting the seedlings of lettuce (cv. Luisa) was conducted in pots containing fungi inoculant and sterilized soil in the proportion of 1:3. In each vessel was inoculated with 5 mL of distilled water containing 100 µL of a suspension with 600 eggs of Meloidogyne incognita. Inoculations were performed at three points around the root. The parameters were the number of galls and egg masses on roots of lettuce after 35 days of planting. All fungal isolates tested reduced significantly the number of galls and egg masses of M. incognita in comparison with the control.
