Soil Mechanical Resistance to Penetration under different soil use systems

Several management systems have caused alterations on soil physical and morphological properties. For this reason, the aim of the present study was to assess the influence of three different forms of soil utilization on the mechanical resistance to penetration (MRP). The study was carried out at Fazenda Experimental Chã-de-Jardim, CCA/UFPB, Areia, Paraíba state. It was conducted in Yellow Latosol under three systems of soil management. MRP data were collected at the depth 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40 and 40-50 cm on eight sample point of each system: native field, cultivated and grazing area. The cultivated soil showed maximum MRP of 1.917 MPa. On the other hand, in grazing area it was verified the maximum media of 2.689 MPa. In general, the cultivated area was those that presented the lower mean of MRP, in contrast with the grazing area that showed higher mean in the first 30 cm of depth. At depths greater than 30 cm the highest mean of MRP it was observed in native field.Downloads
