Considering the images from IKONOS satellite and based on the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics database, both referring to the year 2000, it was calculated the vegetation cover per inhabitants for the different sectors of Santa Cruz do Sul, RS. It was verified that the areas with greater presence of vegetation cover were those ones where urbanization is less dense, that is, South and Southwest areas and North and East suburbs, which have more than 5.4 m2 of green area per inhabitant.
