Abstract

The Biological control has been commonly established as an alternative to using chemicals to control pests and diseases. fungi of the genus Trichoderma are of great economic importance for agriculture, since they are able to act as agents of disease control in various crops. The fungus Thielaviopsis paradoxa, anamorphic of the ascomycete Ceratocystis paradoxa is the causal agent of the disease known as resinose coconut. The disease has spread gradually increasing the number of properties and coconut trees infected each year. The objective of this study was to observe the inhibitory influence of Trichoderma spp. on the mycelial growth of Thielaviopsis paradoxa. Were used for the experiment 10 strains of Trichoderma spp. from different regions of Brazil (TC101, TC102, TC103, TC104, TC105, TC106, TC107, RS201, TC109, TC110) and one isolate of the fungus Thielaviopsis paradoxa (TC 003). To verify the antagonistic action of Trichoderma sp. on T. paradoxa used the pairing of cultures in Petri dishes. The antagonistic ability of Trichoderma spp. were evaluated at seven and fourteen days after pairing, using the scale from Bell et al., ranging from 1 to 5. Isolates CT 107, CT 105, CT 106, CT 103, CT 102, CT 110 and CT 109 were the most effective "in vitro" to control T. paradoxa in relation to other tested thus led to the best potential hiperparasitism pathogenic fungus.
