Abstract

This study aims to determine the porosity of coal Ziziphus joazeiro (Martius) and Prosopis juliflora (Sw.) DC. From the analysis of apparent and true densities, and thus expand the number of scientific papers that seek knowledge about tree species occurring in the semi-arid Northeast. We selected five individuals of each species, which showed a good plant, they were collected and removed disks from each tree (5 per individual), they were transformed into chips to perform the carbonizações, with the final product coal, then held rehearsals for the determination of densities. It is therefore that the mean values of basic density between the two species showed significant differences, and the Ziziphus joazeiro (75.22%),
presented below, the deaths from Prosopis juliflora (82.25%). Based on the data analyzed and deaths, can be considered both species exelentes for production of charcoal.
